Formerly a journalist with the Daily Telegraph, The Spectator and Whitehall Editor of the Financial Times, he has also served as Director of the centre-right think tank Onward. He is the author of Broken Heartlands: A Journey Through Labour's Lost England, about the red wall areas that voted for the Conservatives in 2019 and The Fall of Boris Johnson.
